WOSCC is the well-established social organization registered in 1992 under the concerned authority of government of Nepal, has been actively moving for 31 years. Supporting for the formation of aware, creative, self-governed, equitable and esteem society is the vision of the organization. The organization has been actively playing successful role to promote good governance and to empower communities with the help of social mobilizer in the task of establishing rights of human being with dignity and as well as special for assurance of child rights and women rights. The organization has been participating in different local level program to national level and international level issue based coordinating, partnership and cooperating with national and international organization and with government bodies too. On the basis of previous learning and experience it has been working for various issues like human rights, child rights, women rights, livelihood, women empowerment, environment and climate change, disaster management, water sanitation, right to reproductive health, nutrition, renewable energy, agriculture, food security, livelihood, formation and mobilization of networking and institutional development. For social transformation this organization has been continually by the concept of right base approach, concept of inclusive, participatory method and process. It has established its identity as leadership and mediator to change traditional norms and that is constructed by patriarchal governance attitude.
The organization has been cooperating, coordinating and sharing experiences with different organizations for expanding new programs related to rights of participatory group of community. It has been running various programs with mutual effort of board member and staff, high motivation, dedication and willpower to achieve the goal though different obstacles are seen since its establishment. It has been successful to keep positive impact in the area of achievement of goal and has established very good coordination and relation with related ministry, commission, community related organizations, I/NGOs and other stakeholders
WHY IT’S ESTABLISHED?
Even in the 21st century, there are insecurity, gender discrimination, cast discrimination, un-touchability, child marriage, polygamy, rape, dowry system, loss of women’s life in accusation of witch, such bitter truth is well known by all and still the condition of women is so pity in Terai. Human trafficking, child labor/slavery, inhuman violence towards women and children in different excuses has been taking place that has violated the human rights of entire women. Issue of gender violence is common social issue not only women’s issue. The organization has been established to create capable human resource making responsible towards duty with claiming the rights, to mobilize and utilize the local and indigenous knowledge, skills, natural resources, learning, experience in right way that is acquired by all, to establish the discrimination free family and prosper society with changing existing wrong perception and action into positive action, the organization has been transmitting and advocating, lobbing the message in issue of international convention, constitution, legal rights to abolish discriminative evil practices, protecting human rights, aware community regarding living on the base of with dignity
WHAT HAS THE ORGANIZATION BEEN DOING SO FAR?
The organization has been programming on the concept of right base approach as awareness of legal rights for women, organizational improvement program, women literacy campaign, WE CAN campaign for abolishing all kind of violence against of women, anti-human trafficking program, enhancement and mobilization of women leadership program, women empowerment in politics program, anti-child slavery program, early childhood development and nutrition program, campaign for participation of at least 33% of women in decision making position of every structure, campaign for women participation in constitution, campaign for toile making, campaign for citizenship, finding and mobilizing natural resources, local governance and community development program(LGCDP), livelihood and empowerment program, disaster management and support, formation, mobilization of network, organizational development, mobilization of livelihood fund, training for self-employment, development of leadership, cooperation, coordination between different thought groups, women leadership program, justice and equality for women, controlling deforestation, environment pollution and climate change, Hariyo Ban program, awareness against of gender violence, women empowerment against slavery and human trafficking, alternative energy, and socialization and many more programs.
The organization has been following participatory method in formation of program structure, planning, and implementation, monitoring and evaluation as accordance of creative, positive suggestion of people from community and partner organization. Through programs specially to stop human smuggling, to control child slavery and human trafficking, management of natural resources, protection of biodiversity in agriculture, distribution of emergency relief, making modern smokeless stove, population, health and sanitation, promotion of alternative energy, capacity development and participation of women in various structures and has been leading the society and has progressed in life with improvement of livelihood as well as changes can be seen, heard, feel.to sustain the programs of this organization, through method and process of cooperating with people from community, the capacity development of theirs and in community the participation and coordination of all aged group people has got priority. Social mobilization has been preparing successful people who can play positive leadership in team and network.
